Mabrouk El Kemel, professionally known as “Bzaow”, is an artist originally from Sidi Bouzid, born in 1980.
He graduated from the Nabeul School of Fine Arts with a specialization in sculpture, where he refined his ability to shape and understand forms in all their complexity. Alongside his artistic career, he works at the “International Center for the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities”.
Bzaow’ s oeuvre serves as a poignant reflection of his inner narrative, rich with personal anecdotes, intimate glimpses of life, and fragmented memories.
His artistic expression, under the moniker “Bzaow“, is distinguished by a unique pictorial discourse, characterized by a fusion of organic and geometric forms, often imbued with primal aesthetics and symbolic depth. His compositions serve as a canvas for exploring nuanced aspects of human and animal behavior, alongside profound societal commentary and evocative depictions of collective imagination.
Throughout his career, Bzaow has been a prominent figure in numerous collective exhibitions both domestically and internationally.
In 2019, he captivated audiences with a solo showcase in Strasbourg, marking a significant milestone in his artistic journey.
Recognition of his talent reached new heights in 2020 when he was selected as one of the esteemed finalists for the Yicca Art Prize. Continuing his trajectory of distinction, Bzaow curated a solo exhibition in Tunisia in 2022, followed by another in 2024, reaffirming his status as a visionary artist on the global stage.
