Passionate about streets and their complexities, she directs her artistic efforts towards exploring the ghettos of Tunis. Faced with the powerful subjects she covers, Sys chose to reflect the dynamic character of the city’s urban context through her art.
With total investigative initiative, she undertook a mission to re-imagine city streets as dynamic, vibrancy-driven environments overflowing with hidden beauty and untold stories. In these intimate communities, the inhabitants welcome Sys into their lives, sharing their joys, struggles, hopes and dreams. Sysis perceived as a listening ear, someone who genuinely cares about local well-being and aims to amplify their voices through her art. Sys builds bridges of mutual understanding, empowerment and recognition for her subject matter.
With her artworks, Sys strives to provoke reflection on the true nature of these spaces, forcing us to ask: Are they really dangerous?
Driven by a rebellious spirit, Sys sees these neighborhoods as priceless heritage sites that deserve to be explored to dismantle the clichés and stereotypes associated with them. It was in these marginalized spaces that Sys conceived the concept of urban collage, a medium that captures the essence of neglected environments.
Through deep immersion and exploration, Sys meticulously gathers urban fragments, tags and slices of everyday life, illuminating the informal in all its facets. Her art serves as a catalyst to promote a more authentic representation of these neighborhoods, prompting viewers to question their preconceptions.
Ultimately, Sys‘ aim is to illustrate the inherent goodwill of the residents, highlighting their strength, compassion and resilience in the face of adversity.
